Lower Cardinia IVT assessment and Ecological Management Plan

Alluvium and Ecofutures conducted an ecological and geomorphic assessment for the Lower Cardinia Creek as part of the Inventory of Values and Threats (IVT) and developed a 10-year Ecological Management Plan for Melbourne Water

The IVT assessment of Lower Cardinia Creek provides an important insight into the current ecological and geomorphic condition of the site. It collates field observations and identifies opportunities for improvement. Drawing together ecological and geomorphic information from the IVT assessment, we developed an Ecological Management Plan that considers management actions both spatially and temporally to propose achievable actions over a 10-year time frame. This plan identifies values, threats and potential of vegetation as well as key geomorphology drivers, and identifies strategic drivers to set the context for management and priorities for management actions. The plan recognises the importance of the provision of habitat for species identified as being of biodiversity importance. Riparian vegetation management is considered in the context of the development of future fauna assets.
