Charlotte is an Environmental Scientist with experience in integrated water management, Bio condition and protected plant assessments, development approvals and assessing the impacts of environmentally relevant activities.
Charlotte’s industry background is in environmental science, with a strong interest in flora ecology, rehabilitation and climate adaptation. Charlotte has worked on a variety of projects including wastewater assessments for approval assessments for various developments within Queensland, assessments for environmental offsets, species management plans, protected flora assessments, waterway barrier work assessments, rehabilitation plans and development approval reviews. With a passion for the environment, people, flora, waterways and rehabilitation, Charlotte aims to apply an interdisciplinary approach to achieve the best environmental and human outcomes possible.
Charlotte’s research background focuses on Blue Carbon, with her honours project aiming to quantify a whole-ecosystem blue carbon storage of a subtropical wetland. This project involved extensive field work that include soil sampling, vegetation measurements (height, DBH, roots), organic litter collection and coarse woody debris measurements. The aim of this project was to determine the differences in blue carbon storage as the microtopography transitioned from low-lying mangrove dominated wetlands to salt marsh/Casuarina glauca wetlands. Over the last four years, Charlotte has worked as a sessional academic at the University of the Sunshine Coast, teaching a wide range of environmental science courses including but not limited to, coastal geomorphology, hydrology and geomorphology, soil science, statistical analysis and earth processes.
