Tata Hotels Nature Positive Risk Assessment
Alluvium is supporting IHCL’s sustainability goals by assessing biodiversity risks across its properties and developing a Nature Positive Strategy with site-specific actions.

The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality brand, operates 188 properties across 12 countries, with 75 more in development. As part of its Paathya strategy, launched in 2022, IHCL aims to integrate sustainability into its operations and minimise its biodiversity footprint.
To support this goal, Alluvium has been engaged to conduct a biodiversity assessment across IHCL’s portfolio. This work involves evaluating ecological risks and opportunities, helping IHCL implement nature-positive initiatives.
Alluvium first performed a desktop assessment of 114 properties, identifying 30 priority sites based on their proximity to protected areas, reserve forests, and ecologically sensitive zones. These sites underwent GIS-based mapping and a risk classification (red, orange, green) to guide decision-making.
Following this, we conducted an in-depth NaturePlan Assessment for two IHCL properties, evaluating biodiversity materiality, ecological dependencies, and sustainability risks. The findings has informed a Nature Positive Strategy with clear, site-specific actions and timelines.
This project ensures IHCL’s commitment to sustainability, embedding biodiversity considerations into its business strategy and operations.
